All material placed outside the cart will not be collected due to concerns with the virus being detected up to 24 hours on cardboard and 72 hours on plastic. The District will continue to collect recyclables on our normal schedule. We want to take every precaution to minimize our drivers to any potential exposure. The District also requests that if you have any questions please do not communicate with the drivers but call our office instead, 330-678-8808. Please place this information on all your social media platforms.  Residents should only place their carts out for collection when they are full.

CITY OF KENT-RECYCLING PROGRAM CHANGES

On March 20, 2019, the City of Kent and the Portage County Solid Waste Management District entered into a five (5) year agreement for recycling services. Republic Services will no longer be billing the residents of the City of Kent for curbside recycling or overseeing the program. You will be receiving a quarterly invoice from Portage County beginning in early June. The invoices will cover the following time frame March, April and May. Some invoices will have different amounts to reflect payments already remitted to Republic Services. The second invoices in September will be for June, July and August. These invoices will reflect the new quarterly rate of $16.50.

All calls for service issues related to the recycling collection should now be directed to the Portage County Solid Waste Management District at 330-678-8808

ATTENTION STREETSBORO RESIDENTS:

Recently recycling charges were added to the residents of Streetsboro quarterly sewer bill. The November invoice reflects the price increase from $2.40 per month to $3.50 per month. Residents are paying the additional $1.10 per month dating back to August of 2017 to July of 2018 in addition to the new rate of $10.50 per quarter. Residents will no longer be invoiced yearly. The new program will be quarterly invoicing on the utility bills. For those customers that are not on the County sewer system the annual fee will be assessed to property taxes. It took over one year to resolve the contract between the City and the District. Thus, the larger than normal initial invoice. The next billing cycle you should see $10.50 for recycling.
