PORTAGE COUNTY CENTER FOR HARD TO RECYCLE MATERIALS (CHARM)

CHaRM facilities provide outlets for materials that cannot go in curbside trash or recycling carts. Some of the acceptable items include appliances, scrap tires, cooking oil, plastic bags, electronics, paper shredding, automotive liquids, batteries and scrap metal. 


Hours (excluding federal holidays):

Mondays & Thursdays - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. 


Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

First Monday of every month (excluding federal holidays)

Hours: 2-5 p.m.


Prices - (cash or check)  

TV's & CRT Monitors $20

Printers - $10  

Tires - $0.50 

Farm Tires- $1 - $10 depending on size


Electronics make check to Greenboard IT

Tires make check to Portage County Solid Waste Management District

Remove all paper clips, binder clips, rubber bands, folders and any kind of binding. 

(Mondays 10 A.M. - 2 P.M. OR Thursdays 10 A.M. - 2 P.M. OR the first Monday of every month 10 A.M. - 5 P.M.) Excludes all federal holidays. 


Passenger tires only - $0.50 per tire (cash/check)


  • Limit 10 tires per household per calendar year
  • ALL tires MUST be clean
  • Tires with rims accepted
  • We now accept Farm Tires 
    • Farm tire cost:
    • Up to 30" - $1 per tire, 
    • 37"-60" - $5 per tire
    •  61" or larger - $10 per tire 



NOTE: In Ohio, it is ILLEGAL to transport more than 10 tires in one load without an Ohio Transporter’s license from the Ohio EPA.


Motor oil, antifreeze and transmission fluid are accepted. All containers must be CLEARLY marked with a lid. Must not be mixed.


Lead acid (car batteries) and household batteries (AA, AAA, C, etc). 


Ferrous and non-ferrous metals including wires, pipes, motors, parts etc. are accepted.


Must be in a CLEARLY marked container with lid


Plastic bags, film, ice bags, bubble wrap, etc.
