Steps to Set-Up a School Recycling Program
Everyone, from principals, custodians, and teachers to students and parents, has an important role and is responsible to ensure that the school is doing what it can to keep up with their recycling! With that said, there are three phases that are crucial to each member in order to implement a successful school recycle program; development, implementation, and improvement.
Phase One – Develop Your Program
- Familiarize yourself with the current program in place, if any
- Find out what waste can be recycled and approximate how much of that your school generates
- Search for a recycling provider on our site
- Get your school involved and designate a recycling coordinator
Phase Two – Implement Your Program
- Create a guide for recycling at your school
- Acquire and situate recycling bins
Phase Three – Improve Your Program
- Inform everyone of the program then launch it!
- Monitor the recycling
- Promote the program
- Evaluate what works and what doesn’t; improve it from there
